Preparation for the Blessed Event

Lots of scrubbing and cleaning today as we set up the kitchen for the puppies arrival. Everyone helped and did their share so it went really smoothly. Paul scrubbed the kitchen floor, the boys helped carry up the whelping box, and Julia organized the ribbons and the whelping towels. Tess was eager to go into the whelping box and stayed there a while, she seemed to approve of the new digs. Rhys and Zuma seem a little put out that we moved their crates to other parts of the house but they will love the view once they get used to it. Rush has been a little nudgy all day, maybe he knows something is up with his playmate and friend. Tess seems to find comfort by laying very close to her Mom so that they are touching in some way, it's very cute.

Started to take Tess' temperature today so we can track it and see when it starts to go down and stay down. A lowered temperature will tell us that the puppies are coming within the next 24 hrs. Refusing food is another sign as well, but no signs of that yet.

I love how clean my kitchen is now and the way the the whelping box looks in the corner. I love having puppies in the house, it warms the house in a way that's hard to describe.
The puppies add so much joy and bring out the best in all who enter our home. I'm looking forward to raising this bunch of beautiful babies and giving them a great start.
